Therapy for children
“Toys are a child’s words and play is their language.”
Gary Landreth
You may have noticed a shift or change in your child’s behaviour or personality that has worried you. Perhaps they are struggling with a transition, with friendships, school, family circumstances. Perhaps they are finding it difficult to manage their emotions. Whatever it is that your child is struggling with, therapy can offer a safe space to explore this.
Play therapy enables children to express themselves when they don’t have the words to do so. This may be on a conscious or unconscious level. It is through the medium of toys, art, clay, role play, etc, that together we can explore their feelings and experiences. By sharing this with a trusted, empathetic, non-judgemental person, together we are able to work together to foster empathy, understanding and sense-making, enabling us to bring about change.
